I still much prefer the darker tone of “unstretched” #Horween Natural #chromexcel, as in @oakstreetbootmakers excellent penny loafers (and form•function•form goods), but these “stretch-lightened” @brooksbrothers #Alden tassels will do nicely. You miss the gorgeous pull-up characteristics when it’s stretched…but CXL can be admittedly super-flexible (over-flexible?) in its raw unstretched state, so sometimes pre-stretching is a necessity, as in these sleek Aberdeen last loafers.

Some sanding and polyurethane on the wood, and a long soak in vinegar to eat the rust off the cast iron base, some sanding to knock off the rust, then a spray clearcoat, and this is now a bedside table. #vintage #diy #woodwork
